About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Structural Modeler to join our team at GHD. As a key member of our Canadian Operations, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality structural design solutions for rail, stations, and transportation facilities projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and develop structural drawings and details from conception to final design, adhering to established standards and procedures for a wide range of steel and concrete structures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to advance structural design packages in Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build environments.
  • Mentor and supervise junior and developing technicians to ensure the development of their skills and knowledge.
  • Implement and maintain BIM Execution Plans and project requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide training and support to junior and developing technicians on project BIM standards and procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to GHD BIM standards and procedures, and implement compliance on the project level.
  • Contribute to the development of BIM scope, schedule, and budget as required.
  • Perform quantity take-offs and produce high-quality structural deliverables.
  • Communicate effectively with structural leads, designers, and project team members to ensure timely and effective project information flow.
  • Participate in the advancement of GHD Standard Structural Details and BIM Standards, including promoting changes, mentoring on updates to tools and methods, and assisting with training development and lessons learned exercises.
Requirements
  • Technician/Technologist with a Civil Engineering Technology diploma and a background in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • At least 8 years of experience in design/drafting standards, practice, and techniques.
  • Superior attention to detail, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • High proficiency in Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD, with knowledge of Navisworks, Dynamo, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and AutoCAD Plant 3D considered an asset.
  • Good understanding of the level of effort required to complete the work.
  • Positive attitude, good communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • High competency/expertise in REVIT and BIM Collaboration tools (ProjectWise, and BIM 360).
  • Strong communication skills for team-based working environments and for teaching project teams about standard methodologies in BIM/CAD.
  • Ability to interact with external entities to interpret and understand BIM/CAD requirements and BIM scope.
  • Ability to work in multiple parallel projects and within a team environment.
