As a vital member of the meat and seafood division, your responsibilities will encompass the preparation of various meat and seafood cuts, ensuring the presentation of visually appealing and plentiful fresh displays, processing custom orders, and meeting or surpassing the objectives set forth by the Market Manager and leadership team.
This role is fundamentally service-oriented, requiring you to deliver courteous, friendly, knowledgeable, and exceptional service to both customers and fellow team members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain equipment and uphold a safe, sanitary work environment.
- Portion and package meat and seafood products according to customer specifications.
- Prepare an array of meat cuts for display cases.
- Ensure accurate pricing and signage for retail products.
- Possess in-depth knowledge of primal cuts.
- Exhibit a passion for fresh food.
- Provide excellent customer service and create memorable experiences.
- Adhere to food safety standards and company protocols to guarantee food safety.
- Implement daily sampling programs.
- Stay informed about new product introductions and communicate with customers.
- Keep back areas and coolers organized, well-maintained, and properly dated.
- Assist with monthly inventory processes.
- Demonstrate proper equipment usage, care, and maintenance.
- Perform tasks such as breaking, trimming, boning, cutting, scraping, and plating various meat and seafood cuts.
- Prepare skewered meat and poultry items for kabobs.
- Grind meats while monitoring temperature.
- Execute additional duties as assigned by team leaders and store management.
- Possess superior knowledge of primal cuts.
- Have familiarity with inventory management, financial statements, margin, and labor controls.
- Understand cooking techniques for various cuts and products.
- Be self-motivated and a problem solver.
- Demonstrate basic math skills.
- Experience with digital scale operation is considered an asset.
- Meat Cutting certification is an asset, but not mandatory if the candidate has five years of relevant experience.
- Completion of Food Safety Mini Course certification is required (training provided by Sunterra).
- WHMIS Certification is required (training provided by Sunterra).
- Familiarity with digital scale operation is considered an asset.
- Constant standing and walking.
- Frequent bending or occasional kneeling.
- Occasional lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying items weighing up to 40 lbs.
