Job Summary

This is an advanced practice role providing professional, analytical, and autonomous comprehensive range of health services to clients and patients, including health assessments, diagnosing diseases, treating and managing acute and chronic illnesses, and identifying health risks and needs within a holistic model.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team and Orthopedic Surgeons to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate the surgical preoperative education and optimization program for patients awaiting orthopedic surgery.
  • Provide comprehensive education, evaluation, and follow-up care to preoperative orthopedic surgery patients, promoting surgical optimization and preventative health care practices, and assisting patients and families in adapting to the required treatment and lifestyle changes.
  • Care to clients is delivered in an ambulatory outpatient setting, with client assessments completed in person or via virtual healthcare solutions.
  • The roles and responsibilities in this position may expand in the future to other surgical services, within the scope of practice for a nurse practitioner.
Qualifications
  • Current registration in good standing with the Association of Registered Nurses of New Brunswick and a current Nurse Practitioner license are required.
  • Valid Driver's License – travel to Miramichi Regional Hospital 2-3 days a month.
  • A minimum of five years recent clinical experience in the last seven in primary care or adult acute care is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to function autonomously in an advanced practice role.
  • Possess strong abilities in the areas of collaboration, clinical reasoning, professional development, interpersonal effectiveness, conflict management, and teamwork.
  • A satisfactory record of work performance is required.
  • Ability to attend work on a regular basis.
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.
