Position Overview:

The Physiotherapist will be responsible for evaluating and implementing treatment plans, as well as executing specific physiotherapy techniques upon physician referral. This role includes maintaining patient evaluations, progress documentation, and statistical records. The Physiotherapist will report directly to the Director of Clinical Services, ensuring high-quality care and adherence to departmental standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments, develop, direct, and evaluate patient treatment plans as requested by referring physicians.
  • Administer physiotherapy treatments and execute specific therapeutic procedures.
  • Maintain accurate patient progress documentation and statistical records.
  • Communicate effectively with referring physicians regarding physiotherapy assessments and patient progress.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and community organizations involved in patient care.
  • Participate in team meetings, educational seminars, and departmental programs.
  • Plan patient discharge in coordination with other team members or agencies.
  • Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations to maintain safe working conditions.
  • Assist in the upkeep of safe and functional equipment.
  • Adhere to patient safety protocols, including the identification and reporting of adverse events.
  • Engage in relevant safety training and educational updates.
  • Identify and address unsafe conditions or practices promptly.
  • Develop and implement physiotherapy treatment plans for adults and older adults with various medical needs.
  • Foster a culture of safety for clients and staff by following established safety policies and procedures.
  • Promote an environment that supports change and innovation in healthcare practices.
  • Report any unusual occurrences or incidents to management promptly.
  • Undertake special projects and additional duties as assigned by the department manager.

Qualifications:

A degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent, with registration from the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario. Membership in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association is preferred.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Exceptional communication and clinical reasoning abilities; adaptable to evolving demands and schedules.
  • Demonstrates compassion and care in all interactions with patients and their families.
  • Preferred experience in providing physiotherapy services to the geriatric population in an integrated care environment, particularly in inpatient rehabilitation or hospital settings.
  • Strong time management, organizational, and prioritization skills related to patient care.
  • Ability to exhibit a customer service-oriented approach.
  • Self-directed with the ability to seek guidance when necessary.
