About the Job:
The Physiotherapist will be responsible for assessing and administering treatment to patients, as well as carrying out specific physiotherapy procedures upon referral by a physician. This role requires maintaining accurate patient assessments, progress reports, and statistical records, with ultimate responsibility to the Director of Clinical Services for providing quality care and maintaining departmental standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- To assess, plan, direct, review, and evaluate patient treatment on the request of the referring physician.
- To administer treatment and carry out specific physiotherapy procedures.
- To maintain patient progress reports and statistical records.
- To advise referring physician(s) with regards to physiotherapy assessment and progress in the treatment of patients.
- To liaise with other healthcare disciplines and community agencies involved in the patient's care.
- To participate in team conferences, presentations, educational seminars, and other departmental, health centre, and community programs.
- To plan a client's discharge in conjunction with other team members or agencies.
- To assure safe working practices and conditions through compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
- To assist in the maintenance of safe equipment.
- To comply with patient safety programs and processes, including identifying and reporting adverse events/near misses.
- To attend and participate in appropriate safety training or education updates.
- To identify unsafe conditions or practices and take appropriate action to address them.
Requirements:
- Registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario.
- Member in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (preferred).
- Superior communication and clinical reasoning skills.
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing demands and schedules.
- Caring and compassionate in all interactions with patients and families.
- Preferred experience in delivery of physiotherapy services for the geriatric population in an integrated care setting, preferably in inpatient rehabilitation or hospital.
- Excellent time management, organizational, and prioritization skills as relates to patient care.
- Ability to demonstrate a strong customer service philosophy.
- Demonstrated ability to be self-directed and seek direction appropriately.
