Job Title: Laboratory Technician A - GC & ICP Analyst

AGAT Laboratories is a leading full-service laboratory with a strong presence across Canada. With a broad range of staff experience and state-of-the-art instrumentation, we provide comprehensive analytical solutions for the Environmental, Energy, Mining, Transportation, Industrial, Agri-food, and Life Sciences sectors.

We are currently seeking a skilled Laboratory Technician A - GC & ICP Analyst to join our Forensics team at our Calgary location. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining instruments and equipment used in the lab, working independently with direction from the Laboratory Manager.

Duties:
  • Prepare samples, reagents, and calibration materials as directed
  • Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and conduct routine maintenance on assigned instruments
  • Compile, verify, and validate accurate data records
  • Meet quality assurance and turnaround specifications
  • Follow all Quality Control and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Report results
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary education with a technical diploma or Bachelor of Science in Chemistry
  • 2+ years of laboratory experience with GC-MS, GC-MSMS, and ICP-MSMS required
  • Experience using Triple Quad Mass Spec (QQQ-MS) would be an asset
  • Fluency in English, both verbal and written
  • Able to operate, troubleshoot, and maintain analytical instruments
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Knowledge of full laboratory processes
  • Ability to work in a positive manner in a fast-paced environment
Work Environment:

This position requires a person to stand, sit, and lift throughout the shift in a laboratory environment. Manual dexterity is required to perform repetitive tasks. PPE is required where applicable.
