Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Water Resources Engineer to join our team at Dillon Consulting. As a key member of our water and wastewater group, you will be responsible for designing and managing water and wastewater treatment systems, as well as providing expertise in project management and business development.

Responsibilities
  • Preliminary design, detailed design, and expertise in the assessment of treatment processes for water and wastewater treatment systems, water supply, and wastewater collection infrastructure.
  • Supporting project managers with the coordination of design team activities, direction to project team members, and ongoing support to client relationship managers.
  • Project management of small-sized infrastructure projects, leading to larger assignments following demonstrated proficiency.
  • Liaison with public and private sector clients, government review and approval agencies, sub-consultants, and subcontractors.
  • Liaison with multidisciplinary project teams, including transportation, municipal, and structural engineers, transportation systems planners, planners, environmental scientists, and technical support staff.
Business Development
  • Preparation of project proposals and contribution to client relationships and business development activities.
  • Identification and development of new business opportunities with private sector clients.
  • Leadership in the maintenance of existing client relationships and development of new client relationships, including preparation of project proposals.
  • Business travel to other Dillon offices upon request.
Learning & Development

  • Input to the career development of junior staff, including technical direction, training recommendations, coaching, and mentoring.

Qualifications
  • A degree in environmental, civil, mechanical, or chemical engineering.
  • Licensed to practice as a professional engineer, or eligible to be licensed within six months.
  • A minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience.

Experience
  • Experienced in the assessment and design of treatment processes for small and large-scale water and/or wastewater facilities.
  • Proficient in the full range of design activities, including preparation of preliminary and detailed design drawings and reports, contract document preparation, and tendering.
  • Experience with industrial site water and wastewater management is an asset, including characterization (water balance, flow, and quality), water conservation, water reuse, wastewater segregation, and pollution prevention planning.
  • Exposure to project management skills, either through on-the-job experience or formal training.
  • Proven abilities in multidisciplinary teamwork, client and industry relationships, and regulatory agency consultation.
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant Canadian federal and provincial regulations.
  • Familiarity with contract administration services and requirements.
  • Working knowledge of emerging technologies for water and wastewater treatment.
  • Demonstrated abilities in multidisciplinary project teamwork and coordination.
  • Proficient in project proposal preparation and presentations.
