Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Executive Director to lead our horticulture and conservation efforts at the Toronto Botanical Garden. The successful candidate will have a strong background in environmental management and a proven track record of success in leading teams and implementing organizational policies and programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management
    • Provide strategic direction and leadership to the horticulture and conservation teams
    • Develop and implement policies and programs to achieve organizational goals
    • Manage and supervise a team of staff and volunteers
  • Program Development and Implementation
    • Develop and implement programs to promote environmental conservation and sustainability
    • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve organizational goals
    • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness and make recommendations for improvement
  • Financial Management
    • Develop and manage budgets to achieve organizational financial goals
    • Monitor and control expenses to ensure fiscal responsibility
    • Make recommendations for financial investments and resource allocation
  • Communication and Community Engagement
    • Develop and implement communication strategies to engage with internal and external stakeholders
    • Represent the organization at external events and meetings
    • Build and maintain relationships with community partners and stakeholders
Requirements
  • Education
    • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g. environmental science, horticulture, business administration)
  • Experience
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in environmental management or a related field
    • Proven track record of success in leading teams and implementing organizational policies and programs
  • Skills
    • Strong leadership and management skills
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to develop and implement policies and programs
    • Financial management and budgeting skills
