Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Accountant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical expertise and support to our clients, as well as contributing to the growth and development of our firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Compliance review of tax returns for individuals, corporations, trusts, and partnerships, and the related foreign reporting requirements;
- Participate in tax planning engagements and the preparation of technical tax memos;
- Prepare instruction letters for the execution of corporate reorganizations, estate & post-mortem tax planning, business succession planning, and the purchase & sale of a business;
- Conducting tax research and interpreting tax legislation and proposed legislative changes;
- Providing technical expertise as an internal resource to staff who need tax support on their client files or on specific questions from their clients;
- Preparing client correspondence, including; reports & analysis, discussion of technical issues and recommendations, and attending client meetings where appropriate;
- Providing assistance to other offices of the Firm, as required, and collaborating with other service lines across the firm.
Requirements
- Experience in Public Accounting;
- 3-5 years of work experience with Canadian Income Taxation;
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) Designation;
- Willingness to enroll in or enrolled in the CICA In-Depth Tax Course, or completion of the MTax program;
- Eagerness to be continuously learning and gaining experience in a broad range of tax concepts.
