We are seeking a skilled Crisis Services Nurse to join our team at Island Health. As a Crisis Services Nurse, you will provide high-quality care to individuals experiencing mental health crises, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver effective interventions and support.
Key Responsibilities:- Apply the nursing process to assess, plan, and implement care for individuals in crisis, adhering to BC College of Nurses and Midwives Standards of Nursing Practice.
- Demonstrate clinical competence in crisis intervention, drug use/withdrawal management, and mental health triage and assessments.
- Communicate effectively with individuals, families, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless care coordination.
- Work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team to promote positive change and independence.
- Prioritize and organize client demands and care needs, utilizing sound judgment and good observation skills.
- Operate a personal computer with various software applications and maintain a commitment to continued professional development.
- Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant or a practicing RPN registrant.
- Recognized post-basic education related to psychiatric nursing and/or mental illness.
- Two years recent related experience in mental health, addiction, and crisis care.
- Knowledge of applicable legislation, such as the Mental Health Act and the Guardianship Act.
- Knowledge of available programs, their interrelationships, and their function in delivering care in the community.
