Key Responsibilities:
  • Apply the nursing process to assess, plan, and implement care for individuals in crisis, adhering to BC College of Nurses and Midwives Standards of Nursing Practice.
  • Demonstrate clinical competence in crisis intervention, drug use/withdrawal management, and mental health triage and assessments.
  • Communicate effectively with individuals, families, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team to promote positive change and independence.
  • Prioritize and organize client demands and care needs, utilizing sound judgment and good observation skills.
  • Operate a personal computer with various software applications and maintain a commitment to continued professional development.
Requirements:
  • Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant or a practicing RPN registrant.
  • Recognized post-basic education related to psychiatric nursing and/or mental illness.
  • Two years recent related experience in mental health, addiction, and crisis care.
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation, such as the Mental Health Act and the Guardianship Act.
  • Knowledge of available programs, their interrelationships, and their function in delivering care in the community.
