About the Role

Catastrophe Engineering and Analytics (CAT E&A) is a cutting-edge technical team driving innovation in catastrophe risk research and development. As a Software Engineer within the CAT E&A team, you will play a pivotal role in designing and developing end-to-end systems to deploy and run models. This position requires close collaboration with business, product, and data science teams to drive successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with application engineers, data scientists, and stakeholders to build and maintain existing software supporting existing platforms.
  • Contribute to the development of our technical platform, focusing on user experience and seamless integration of individual models within a unified framework.
  • Assist in the development of AI and machine learning projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Contribute to the design and architecture of scalable, reliable systems, and write maintainable, well-tested code.
  • Build robust data pipelines, perform data analysis, and deploy models, leveraging expertise in Python (Pandas, NumPy, or SciPy) or R.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum three years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, or ML engineering.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency in building and working with APIs, with exposure to GIS libraries, PostGIS, GDAL, and experience with both streaming and batch processing of data.
  • Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes is a plus.
