Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team at Fraser Health. As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, you will be responsible for performing a variety of ultrasound examinations, including abdominal, obstetrical, pelvic, peripheral vascular, small parts, and echocardiography.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receiving and completing requisitions, entering relevant data into the diagnostic imaging information system, and preparing patients for specific procedures.
  • Conducting examinations utilizing ultrasound and Doppler techniques, observing patient safety practices, and performing venipuncture for contrast media injections as directed by the Radiologist/Cardiologist.
  • Assisting in procedural rooms, setting up biopsy trays, and assisting the radiologist/cardiologist with interventional procedures.
  • Monitoring patient during procedures, checking resultant images for technical quality and completeness, and discussing images with the radiologist/cardiologist.
  • Facilitating the workflow of designated work area, regulating inpatient examination time, and arranging for transportation of patients according to departmental procedure.
  • Performing quality control duties, monitoring equipment performance, and notifying supervisor of equipment malfunctions according to established procedures.
Requirements
  • Graduate of a recognized training program in Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography and Diagnostic General Sonography.
  • Certified with Sonography Canada or the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or certified with Sonography Canada and have passed the Sonography Canada Skills Assessment (CCSA).
  • Completion of Intravenous Therapy training course or applicable experience working in IV Therapy or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience when required by site practice.
