Position Overview: As a Junior Electrical Engineer, you will collaborate closely with the Project Manager, assisting on various assignments and contributing to the technical capabilities and production needs of our service line. You will provide outstanding customer service and coordination support with both internal and external project partners, including consultants and contractors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Team Lead, Project Manager, Branch Manager, and Engineering Manager to deliver projects to clients in a timely manner.
- Effectively communicate with the Project Manager, gathering and coordinating essential information.
- Maintain positive working relationships with colleagues.
- Engage in discussions with clients as necessary.
- Assist in the preparation of technical reports.
- Prepare various project documentation, including:
- Addendums
- Change orders
- Equipment supply contracts
- Site instructions
- Stipulated price contracts
- Unit price contracts
- Develop engineering designs, specifications, and recommendations for:
- Control systems
- Grounding
- Hazardous area classification
- Heat tracing systems
- High and medium low voltage power systems
- Life safety systems
- Lighting systems
- Low tension building systems engineering
- Low voltage power systems
- Security systems
- Commissioning of electrical systems
- Energy analysis and management
- Gain insights into quality control processes.
- Under supervision, conduct basic field inspections and write technical reports.
- Embody and promote the core values and purpose of Williams Engineering.
- Adhere to company policies and safety practices.
- Be eligible to apply for Federal security clearance for institutional projects as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) status with the relevant Provincial Association.
- Progressing towards P.Eng. designation.
Skills:
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to listen, respect diverse opinions, and communicate clearly.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, capable of handling multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
- Ability to represent the company positively to teammates, clients, and the community.
- Proficient in relevant software applications (including MS Office 365, SharePoint, Deltek Vision, AutoCAD, Revit MEP, AGI 32 Software).
- Ability to draft basic field inspections and technical reports.
- Understanding of energy analysis and management, grounding, hazardous area classification, heat tracing systems, and various power systems.
- Basic knowledge of specification preparation across various divisions.
- Developing skills in emergency power systems, including generators and UPS.
- Fundamental understanding of electrical principles.
- Ability to perform engineering calculations with clear design documentation.
- Capability to interpret basic multidisciplinary drawings and plans.
