Job Summary

The Community Mental Health Worker provides psychosocial assessment, consultation, and evidence-informed counseling intervention and psychosocial rehabilitation to individuals referred to the mental health program for mental health-related problems. This position provides a welcoming point of entry for clients and referral sources and promotes therapeutic relationships through the service engagement process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide psychosocial assessment, consultation, and evidence-informed counseling intervention and psychosocial rehabilitation to individuals referred to the mental health program.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that address the client's mental health needs.
  • Provide education and support to clients and their families on mental health issues and treatment options.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to clients.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to maintain competency in mental health assessment and treatment.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited post-secondary education in Health-Related Social Sciences (e.g. BSW, BScMH, BScPN, BN, RPN).
  • Active license and registration to practice as required by professional association and provincial legislation.
  • Certificate in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills (ASIST).
  • Knowledge and understanding of all aspects of mental health service.
  • Advanced mental health psychosocial assessment skills and knowledge of appropriate evidence-informed therapeutic counseling models, approaches, and interventions.
Working Conditions

The Community Mental Health Worker works in a fast-paced environment and must be able to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities. The worker must also be able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
