Position Overview

The Government of Manitoba is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Senior Policy Analyst within the Department of Families. This position is integral to enhancing the well-being of Manitobans by developing and implementing strategic policies that address social, health, and economic issues.

Role Responsibilities

The Senior Policy Analyst will:

  • Conduct thorough research and analysis on existing policies, programs, and regulations.
  • Provide expert recommendations to improve services and address community needs.
  • Prepare comprehensive documents, including briefing notes and reports, to inform decision-making.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to lead complex projects and initiatives.

Qualifications Required

To be eligible for this position, candidates must possess:
  • A post-secondary degree in social sciences, public administration, law, economics, or a related field.
  • Experience in policy development, evaluation, or research, preferably in a public sector context.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to synthesize information from diverse sources.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for presenting complex information clearly.
  • Political acumen and the ability to handle sensitive information appropriately.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional desirable qualifications include:
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities and understanding reconciliation principles.
  • Personal or professional experience that provides insight into the challenges faced by Manitobans served by the Department of Families.
