Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide outstanding member support that fosters trust through expertise, responsive service, and assistance to ensure the best outcomes for every member while considering the credit union's interests.
  • Contribute to the attainment of annual branch objectives by actively promoting Connect First Credit Union's offerings, engaging in branch initiatives, and seeking potential cross-selling and referral opportunities during member interactions.
  • Conduct member interviews to deliver comprehensive information on the complete array of loan and deposit offerings, recommending customized solutions to enhance member relationships.
  • Proactively identify sales opportunities to meet individual sales and profitability targets with existing members, prospective members, or through referrals from current relationships to grow the business portfolio.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of all credit union products and services to drive business growth through exceptional service and product knowledge; stay updated on procedural changes related to new accounts, investments, loans, and mortgages.
  • Process and finalize member transactions, including RRSP, term deposit sales and withdrawals, loan payments, money orders, credit card advances, and electronic funds transfers.
  • Make informed recommendations and manage the necessary documentation for the sale of all credit union products in accordance with established policies and procedures, ensuring the application of correct rates and service charges.
  • Educate members on utilizing various service delivery channels, including digital and self-service options, to enhance their experience.
  • Guide and mentor branch staff in understanding lending and investment products and services; assist employees with member inquiries in the absence of management.
  • Utilize sound judgment to identify, diagnose, and resolve issues within established guidelines; address member account problems and escalate unresolved matters to senior branch personnel as needed.
  • Review reports on new accounts and term maturities to identify discrepancies and necessary actions; refer issues to appropriate internal teams for resolution.
  • Conduct routine audits of loans as directed, reviewing loan reports and determining further actions required to address identified issues in line with established procedures.
  • Act as a joint custodian for specified combinations; manage access to safety deposit boxes and maintain related records.
  • Adhere to Risk Management policies and procedures and audit control standards in daily operations to ensure compliance and mitigate risks effectively.
  • Ensure adherence to all policies and procedures in daily activities to meet safety, legal, and privacy standards.
  • Identify and establish professional development goals; complete activities outlined in the development plan to enhance employee engagement and enablement.
  • Actively participate in regular goal-setting meetings and coaching sessions.

Experience Required:

  • 3 - 4 years of experience in a customer service or administrative capacity.
  • 1 - 2 years of experience in retail banking with a proven ability to cultivate member relationships.
  • 2 – 4 years of experience in retail lending/credit.
  • Basic lending experience is preferred.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of relevant courses such as CUIC courses, Credit Union Service Representative Accreditation, etc.
  • Working towards or having completed a certificate, diploma, degree, or designation program.
  • Completion of the Lender Accreditation Program (LAP 1 & 2) within 6 – 12 months of starting the role.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficient computer skills; ability to quickly learn new and existing programs related to the role.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, analytical, organizational, and multitasking abilities.
  • Effective influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong numerical aptitude with fast and accurate data entry capabilities.
  • Good understanding of the broader financial services industry and the mortgage and retail lending market.
  • Solid financial literacy.
