About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our Cardiac Services team at Fraser Health Authority. As a key member of our interprofessional care team, you will provide direct patient care to patients in an acute medical unit, working collaboratively with physicians, licensed practical nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Assessment and Planning: Conduct thorough assessments of patients, collecting information from various sources, and making nursing diagnoses to determine the best course of care.
  2. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with patients, families, and caregivers to develop and implement care plans, promoting person-centered care and advocating for patient rights and autonomy.
  3. Care Coordination: Coordinate nursing care for patients, prioritizing tasks, delegating to support staff, and making referrals to the interprofessional care team as needed.
  4. Education and Support: Teach patients and families about illness prevention, health restoration, and health maintenance, assessing learning needs and providing information and demonstrations to support self-care and discharge planning.
  5. Documentation and Quality Improvement: Accurately document assessments, nursing diagnoses, interventions, and patient outcomes, participating in quality improvement activities to identify areas for improvement and implement changes to practices and procedures.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Completion of Cardiology component of Post Basic Critical Care course, or post basic High Acuity Course, approved Arrhythmia interpretation course, plus one year's recent experience in cardiac monitoring or telemetry unit, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Current Basic Rescuer Certificate.
