Job Title: Professor of Statutory Interpretation

We are seeking a highly qualified Professor of Statutory Interpretation to join our faculty at the University of Ottawa. The successful candidate will have a strong background in statutory interpretation and a proven track record of teaching and research in this area.

About the Position

This is a part-time regular professor position that will involve teaching a course on statutory interpretation. The course will explore the range of approaches and techniques courts have recognized for interpreting statutes and delegated legislation. The successful candidate will be expected to develop analytical skills and methods of argumentation to resolve disputes about the meaning and application of legislative texts.

Responsibilities
  • Teach a course on statutory interpretation
  • Develop and implement a curriculum that meets the needs of students
  • Assess student learning and provide feedback
  • Contribute to the development of the law program at the University of Ottawa
Requirements

The successful candidate will have a strong background in statutory interpretation and a proven track record of teaching and research in this area. An LL.B., J.D., or equivalent is required for this position. Membership in the Law Society of Ontario in good standing is also required. The successful candidate will have significant experience in the area of statutory interpretation. Prior teaching experience will be considered an asset.
