We are seeking a highly skilled Refinery Operations IT Manager to lead our team in ensuring the efficient and reliable operation of software applications supporting refinery processes.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee the support and maintenance of software applications used in refinery operations.
- Lead a team responsible for the support, maintenance, and enhancement of software applications used in refinery operations.
- Collaborate with IT, IT's outsourced partner, engineering, and operations teams to ensure optimal application performance.
- Manage and mentor a team of outsourced application support specialists.
- Monitor, maintain, and optimize refinery-specific software applications to ensure maximum availability and performance.
- Respond to critical application incidents and ensure timely resolution with minimal impact on refinery operations.
- Work closely with refinery operations, engineering teams, solution architects, and IT vendors to understand application requirements.
- Manage refinery application-related projects, including upgrades, patch management, and system integrations.
- Identify opportunities for process and application improvements and implement solutions to enhance application performance and reliability.
- Ensure compliance and access management for all applications used across the refinery.
- Oversee budget and license fee management for applications used across the refinery.
- Liaise with refinery software vendors for issue resolution, contract management, and to stay updated on new features and upgrades.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in IT or application support, with at least 3 years in a manager role.
- Experience in the oil and gas industry, particularly in refinery operations, is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of refinery processes and software applications that support them.
- Proficiency in application monitoring tools, databases, and IT infrastructure.
- Proven experience in leading and managing a technical team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
This role is typically based in an office environment, with two days of working at the corporate office and one day at the refinery in Burnaby.
