About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Detection Developer to join our Cloud Detection Team at Arctic Wolf. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining high-quality detections, software, and systems to ensure the security and integrity of our customers' data.

Your primary focus will be on developing and maintaining Python and YAML-based detections, as well as researching and developing expertise in various threat surfaces and telemetry. You will also be responsible for proposing coverage and efficacy improvements to the detection surface, working with team members to develop novel detections, and continuously tuning existing ones.

In addition to your technical expertise, you will also be expected to provide mentorship and technical leadership to the team, conduct code reviews, and participate in the full software development life cycle. You will be working closely with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and implement detections, and will be responsible for building runbooks, reports, and supporting material for detection surfaces.

Responsibilities
  1. Develop and maintain high-quality detections, software, and systems to ensure the security and integrity of our customers' data.
  2. Research and develop expertise in various threat surfaces and telemetry.
  3. Propose coverage and efficacy improvements to the detection surface.
  4. Work with team members to develop novel detections and continuously tune existing ones.
  5. Provide mentorship and technical leadership to the team.
  6. Conduct code reviews and participate in the full software development life cycle.
  7. Build runbooks, reports, and supporting material for detection surfaces.
  8. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and implement detections.
Requirements
  • 7 or more years of professional experience as a Detection Developer.
  • Experience with Python and YAML-based detections.
  • Strong background in cloud security and software development.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks.
