JOB PURPOSE

The individual in this role will oversee a team of quality assurance professionals to execute their daily responsibilities within the manufacturing environment, primarily focusing on preventing quality issues and ensuring that all corrective action plans are effectively implemented. With extensive expertise in production processes and quality assurance, they will identify solutions to persistent problems and initiate projects aimed at enhancing product quality and reliability, ultimately ensuring customer satisfaction. They will also verify that appropriate production controls are maintained by the vendor's quality assurance and quality control team while ensuring sufficient staffing levels across all manufacturing sites.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

Team Leadership

  • Direct a factory quality assurance team, addressing challenges while managing team dynamics. Collaborate with the QA manager to establish daily and weekly staffing arrangements for the QA team. Ensure optimal deployment of QA resources within the factory to maximize process control coverage.
  • Mentor and train junior QA staff to effectively carry out their assigned duties.
  • Guarantee that all equipment and tools utilized during quality assurance activities are properly maintained and cared for throughout their operational lifespan.
  • Conduct performance evaluations for direct reports on a quarterly and annual basis.

Quality Assurance and Control

  • Organize QA personnel to lead vendor inspection teams, leveraging their strengths and experience to oversee the production process.
  • Utilize data from quality returns and tracking systems to guide QA and factory teams in establishing processes and procedures such as first piece reviews, pilot runs, moisture controls, critical testing, and production verifications.
  • Deliver precise and timely quality control reports to the immediate supervisor.
  • Implement Acceptable Quality Level (AQL) standards during in-line inspections on top-tier and high-level SKUs to ensure products are shipped at the expected quality level.

Purchase Order Progress Tracking and Inspection Certification

  • Ensure the QA team monitors production components daily in accordance with established procedures.
  • Provide weekly updates on production status to the QA Manager, Supply Chain Operations, and Merchant teams.
  • Collaborate with QA teams and vendor representatives to meet production schedules and quality benchmarks.

Pre-Production Meetings, Product Development, and Production Oversight

  • Participate in pre-production meetings and pilot runs with the factory production team, ensuring all construction, assembly, and packaging requirements are fulfilled prior to mass production.

Collaboration with Factories/Vendors for Corrective Action Plans

  • Manage the Defect Tracking System (DTS) data and action lines, returns and replacements data, and production issues encountered during manufacturing. Ensure this data is effectively utilized to enhance quality and develop preventive action plans as needed.
  • Track and follow up on unresolved and recurring issues, providing accurate data to minimize future occurrences.
  • Keep the QA Manager informed of any potential challenges that may impact product quality and reliability.

Test Reports and Reference Sample Updates

  • Ensure the QA team maintains complete and updated references, including master control samples, product data sheets, test reports, and quality standards, prior to production runs.
  • Collaborate with factories, lab technicians, and engineers to conduct in-house tests as necessary.

JOB HOLDER'S COMPETENCIES & EXPERIENCE

Experience and Knowledge

The candidate must possess a strong background in the following areas:

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in quality assurance and control, with a solid understanding of furniture production processes and decorative accessories manufacturing systems.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of quality control processes and systems specific to furniture and decorative accessories.
  • Familiarity with finishing processes, testing methodologies, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings.
  • Basic knowledge of testing tools and furniture production machinery is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Capability to engage with vendor management and implement quality standards on the production floor.
  • A minimum of a college degree is required.

Skills

The candidate must demonstrate the following skills:

  • Proficiency in English and Mandarin is a significant advantage.
  • Strong communication, accuracy, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent eyesight, preferably not color blind.
  • Ability to perform under pressure.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and email.
