We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Elementary School-Age Science and Engineering Workshop Presenter. As a representative of Scientists in School, you will play a vital role in inspiring scientific interest and confidence in children through engaging and interactive workshops.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver High-Quality Workshops: Design and deliver hands-on science and engineering workshops that align with our mission and vision, catering to the needs and interests of Kindergarten to Grade 8 students.
- Role Modeling and Inclusivity: Serve as a positive role model, promoting inclusivity, diversity, and a safe learning environment for all participants.
- Training and Development: Participate in ongoing training, presenter team meetings, and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
- Communication and Collaboration: Effectively communicate with teachers to schedule and confirm workshops, and maintain a professional relationship with customers.
- Workshop Management: Update our workshop database, maintain workshop kits and materials, and adhere to safety guidelines as outlined in our Safety Manual.
Requirements:
- Education and Experience: A science degree is preferred, but a BEd or ECE degree may be considered for some positions. Relevant knowledge and experience in science and/or engineering are essential.
- Organizational and Time Management Skills: Demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills to effectively manage multiple workshops and responsibilities.
- Communication and Presentation Skills: Possess a dynamic presentation style suitable for young people aged 4-13 and the ability to express ideas clearly to children and adults.
- Customer Service and Teamwork: Provide excellent customer service, work independently and as part of a team, and maintain a flexible and diplomatic approach.
- Physical Demands: Ability to move materials bins and equipment weighing up to 22kg to and from workshop locations.
- Technology and Transportation: Possess a valid driver's license, use of a vehicle, and proficiency in using webmail, internet applications, and videoconferencing hardware and software.
- Language and Bilingualism: Fluency in English is required, and bilingualism in French and English is an asset.
