Job Summary
The Maple Leaf Foods team is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Animal Care Technician to join our production team. As an Animal Care Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and well-being of our animals, while also contributing to the success of our production operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with all areas of production, including animal care, feeding, and maintenance of the production environment.
- Maintain accurate records and reports, including door charts and inventory trackers.
- Order feed and medication as needed.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of production goals and objectives.
- Adhere to health and safety policies and procedures, and follow MLAF SOPs regarding the humane treatment of animals.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1-2 years of experience in animal care or a related field preferred.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift 25kg.
- Valid driver's license and ability to get to and from work located in a rural area.
- Weekend, holiday hours, and alarm attending required on a rotational basis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in hog production.
- Knowledge of animal health and welfare.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple priorities and complex tasks simultaneously.
