About the Role

Hudbay Minerals is seeking a highly skilled Mine Buyer to join our team at the Copper Mountain Mine in Princeton, BC. As a Mine Buyer, you will be responsible for purchasing and managing the procurement of goods and services for the mine.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods and services.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors to negotiate competitive pricing and terms.
  • Manage purchase orders, contracts, and invoices to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure procurement needs are met and aligned with business objectives.
  • Develop and maintain accurate and up-to-date procurement records and reports.
  • Perform other duties as required to support the procurement function.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, commerce, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, preferably in a mining or technical industry.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Proficient in ERP systems and experience with IBM Maximo is an asset.

Working Conditions

  • Work in a team environment with regular meetings and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Occasional travel to supplier sites and other locations as required.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment with multiple priorities and deadlines.
