Position Overview

Hamilton Recruitment is looking for a dynamic Assistant Vice President of Actuarial Services to join our esteemed client. This role is pivotal in driving the growth of the actuarial team and ensuring the overall success of the organization. The successful candidate will report directly to the VP of Actuarial Management and will oversee a team of actuaries.

Key Responsibilities:

The incumbent will be responsible for a variety of essential functions, including but not limited to:

  • Leading the preparation and analysis of the company’s quarterly and annual financial reports in accordance with US GAAP and regulatory standards.
  • Enhancing actuarial modeling processes by implementing efficient workflows and automation techniques to optimize operational performance.
  • Developing and refining valuation methodologies and assumptions for new business initiatives while continuously improving existing actuarial practices.
  • Acting as a liaison for both internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies and auditors.
  • Providing expertise in US GAAP, Bermuda EBS, and actuarial modeling software.
  • Overseeing the governance and validation of the company’s Scenario Based Approach modeling.
  • Conducting experience analysis to assess the performance of inforce products and updating valuation assumptions as necessary.
  • Staying informed on industry trends, regulatory changes, and financial reporting requirements to ensure compliance and strategic alignment.
  • Handling ad-hoc financial reporting requests as needed.
  • Mentoring and developing actuarial staff and collaborating with external consultants.
Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional actuarial designation (SOA, FSA, or equivalent).
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant actuarial experience in the life or annuity sectors.
  • Proficiency in actuarial modeling tools such as AXIS, Prophet, or similar software.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP, Bermuda EBS, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Knowledge of fixed-income investments and asset liability management.
  • Experience with life insurance and annuity products.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership abilities and excellent communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work additional hours as required to meet project deadlines.
  • Experience in project management and team leadership.
