Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Project Manager who possesses the ambition, strong work ethic, and relevant experience to oversee significant infrastructure projects, including water and sewer systems, road reconstruction, environmental restoration, and land development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze documentation, specifications, and design plans to establish project scope and requirements.
- Evaluate project scope and implement value engineering strategies throughout the construction process.
- Conduct comprehensive take-offs for all subcontractor trades involved in the projects.
- Assess and review bid submissions from subcontractors.
- Responsible for scrutinizing subcontractor bids for scope, pricing, and necessary clarifications.
- Develop schedules for budgeting and project timelines.
- Collaborate with various internal teams for daily project oversight.
- Effectively represent the company in interactions with clients, regulatory bodies, site personnel, and emerging construction markets.
- Engage in communication and consultation with engineers, architects, owners, and subcontractors, adjusting cost estimates and progress payments as needed.
- Formulate a comprehensive project execution plan and present it clearly to operational staff prior to and during construction phases.
- Maintain an in-depth understanding of prime contracts, as well as provincial and municipal specifications.
- Lead a small team to manage all aspects of the project execution plan.
- Facilitate goal-oriented project team meetings.
- Track and manage change orders, requests for information, site instructions, and shop drawing submissions.
Working Environment:
- Office-based work involving computers and technical drawings.
- Occasional travel for site inspections and fieldwork.
- Fast-paced work environment.
Qualifications:
- 2-5 years of experience in estimating or project management within the relevant industry.
- Proficient in MS Office applications, particularly Excel and MS Project.
- Strong time management and organizational skills, including pre-planning and multitasking.
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Professional demeanor and positive attitude.
- Self-motivated individual capable of working independently as well as part of a team.
