Role and responsibilities:


We are seeking a motivated individual with a great understanding of municipal infrastructure design, civil construction, contract administration and client relationship management, who shares our passion for the industry and takes pride in providing exceptional service to clients, to join our growing team as a Project Designer/Contract Administrator for our linear infrastructure projects.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Generate designs and develop contract documents.
  • Work with project managers, the design team, field inspectors, clients, stakeholders and contractors to provide contract administration services during construction.
  • Liaise with all regulatory, permit and approval agencies.
  • Prepare for, coordinate and lead pre-construction, construction progress and post-construction meetings with municipal clients, contractors and other stakeholders, draft meeting agendas and issue meeting minutes.
  • Prepare electronic forms and records, progress payment documents, performance certificates, and other documentation.
  • Review and respond to requests for information, claims for extra, complaints, and other inquiries.
  • Work with field inspection staff on the project as they perform inspection, daily observation reports, track on-site issues, manage deficiencies, and as-built record drawings


Qualifications:


  • A graduate of a college engineering program, Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited University or C.E.T designation.
  • Experience providing design and contract administration services in Ontario, specializing in water/wastewater municipal infrastructure.
  • Excellent knowledge of municipal infrastructure design and construction principles, as well as standards and specifications, construction contract administration and scheduling.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil3D, Microstation and all MS Office software.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of applicable Laws and Regulations including Ontario Provincial Standards and Specifications (OPSS) for municipal projects and Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety and their application in construction projects.
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and negotiation skills.
  • Superior communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to participate in and lead multi-disciplinary project teams
  • Client focused and quality minded with a passion for providing exceptional services.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop positive relationships with team members and clients.
  • A motivated and dedicated self starter with a positive attitude, strong work ethic and passion for the industry.
  • A valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
