Overview
The Credit Solutions Analyst plays a vital role in enhancing the profitability and quality of the Bank's Technology and Innovation Banking portfolio. This position involves a variety of responsibilities, including conducting due diligence, performing risk assessments, and preparing presentations on intricate transactions in collaboration with the coverage team, alongside continuous portfolio oversight and management.
Key Responsibilities
The Analyst is tasked with:
- Conducting thorough due diligence and risk evaluations, while also engaging in ongoing portfolio management activities.
- Interacting directly with clients, in conjunction with the coverage team, to ensure effective communication and service delivery.
- Collaborating with Credit / Global Risk Management throughout the credit decision-making process, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

- Contribute to the successful development of the Technology and Innovation Banking sector by:
- Ensuring timely analysis, structuring, and presentation of credit and financial solutions proposals within the designated segment.
- Providing sound recommendations during the analysis and adjudication of credit proposals.
- Communicating clearly with the coverage team to articulate the rationale behind decisions, enabling effective client responses.
- Coordinating with the Business Service Centre for fulfillment tasks, including documentation and liaising with third parties.
- Guarantee precise communication of authorization terms and conditions, overseeing their effective and timely implementation by:
- Reviewing all written authorizations for accuracy and completeness.
- Promptly following up on authorization acceptance and addressing any issues or amendments swiftly.
- Ensuring the adequacy and quality of loan documentation and security.
- Liaising to ensure any necessary changes are communicated to the coverage team prior to fund disbursement.
- Maintain the ongoing quality of the assigned credit portfolio by:
- Advising senior management of any emerging credit weaknesses within individual accounts through continuous monitoring and analysis of relevant financial, legal, political, technological, and industry data.
- Adhering to all regulatory and internal Bank policies and requirements.
- Complying with the Bank's Anti-Money Laundering program and Guidelines for Business Conduct by reporting any unusual or fraudulent activities as per established procedures.
- Understand the Bank's risk appetite and culture, applying this knowledge in daily activities and decision-making.
- Strive for effective and efficient operations in alignment with Scotiabank's values, Code of Conduct, and Global Sales Principles, ensuring robust business controls to meet operational, compliance, and conduct risk obligations.
- Foster a high-performance environment while contributing to an inclusive workplace culture.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, candidates should possess:
- An undergraduate degree in business, finance, economics, technology, sciences, or equivalent work experience.
- Progress towards a professional designation (e.g., CPA, CFA, or CBV) or an MBA is considered advantageous.
- A passion for engaging with entrepreneurs and investors within the innovation ecosystem.
- A foundational understanding of financial and risk analysis techniques.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills in both French and English (written and oral).
- Proficiency in PC applications, particularly MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent relationship-building and teamwork capabilities.
