About the Role

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Engineer to join our team as a Project Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and leading projects related to environmental remediation and risk management.


Key Responsibilities

Project Management

  • Manage and lead projects related to environmental remediation and risk management, including phased environmental site assessments (ESAs) and the Ontario Record of Site Condition (RSC) process.
  • Develop and administer project plans, budgets, and schedules to ensure timely and cost-effective completion of projects.
  • Coordinate with senior specialists and technical teams to design and develop remedial and/or risk management options for contaminated sites and brownfields.

Business Development

  • Respond to Requests for Proposal (RFPs) related to contaminated sites work to develop and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities, including preparing proposals and statements of qualification.

Learning and Development

  • Commit to self-development and ongoing learning and professional development.
  • Input to the career development of junior staff, including technical direction, training recommendations, coaching, and mentoring.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Designation as a Professional Engineer.
  • A degree in environmental engineering or another relevant environmental or engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 10 to 15 years of experience in environmental consulting or related industrial experience, including project management experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of the required regulations governing contaminated sites and remediation.

Design and Implementation

  • Remedial action plans.
  • Risk Management Plans.
  • Remedial solutions.
  • Risk management measures.
  • Remediation specs and tender packages.
  • Contract administration.
  • Permitting and compliance.
  • Cost estimation of remedial programs.
  • Remedial options analysis.

Project Management Experience

  • Proven experience managing multiple contaminated sites/ESA-related projects of various overall project value.
  • Familiarity with various remediation technologies and approaches in different media, working with contractors.
  • Solid understanding of the Environmental Protection Act, including regulations associated with brownfields, spills, and excess soils.
  • Experience with industrial sites and First Nations communities.
  • Strong understanding of contaminant fate and transport and development of conceptual site models to support remediation.
  • Phased environmental site assessments (ESAs) and the Record of Site Condition (RSC) process in Ontario.
