Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse to join our team in Langley, B.C. as a Community Mental Health Specialist. This is an exciting opportunity to work with individuals with mental health and/or concurrent disorders, providing treatment and care management services that are both inclusionary and flexible.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate care for clients by collaborating with the interprofessional care team, performing intake functions, conducting mental health assessments, and developing comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Provide direct nursing care to clients, including reviewing client/family history, conducting physical/psychosocial assessments, and implementing treatment modalities such as ADLs, wound care, and administering medications.
  • Work from a strengths-based model, using motivational interviewing and engagement techniques to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with clients and their informal support network, promoting person-centered care and empowering clients to manage their self-care.
  • Provide treatment services, including crisis intervention, individual counseling, and education, according to a variety of theoretical models.
Qualifications
  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing.
  • Two years recent related experience providing treatment services to individuals with mental health and/or concurrent disorders, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage.
