Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver patient care and facilitate transport via ambulance for inter-facility transfers.
  • Engage in continuous training and professional development.

Primary Duties:

The Transfer Fleet's primary focus is on patient transfers between healthcare facilities across British Columbia. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing patient care and inter-facility transport by ambulance, employing critical thinking and safe operational practices.
  • Advocating for patients through effective communication with colleagues, allied health professionals, and public safety partners.
  • Ensuring the safe operation of ambulances, particularly in challenging weather and remote areas.
  • Identifying and addressing complex program or system-wide issues to enhance service delivery and patient care.

Qualifications:

  • Valid EMR license or higher, recognized in British Columbia (issued by EMALB).
  • Class 1, 2, or 4 BC driver's license (or equivalent from another province), or the ability to obtain one within six months of employment.
  • Current driver's abstract reflecting a safe driving history.
  • Work permit for Canada (or ability to obtain one).
  • Strong mental resilience and maturity; capable of functioning effectively in a dynamic environment.

  • Understanding of the impacts of Canadian colonialism on Indigenous peoples in social and health contexts, along with knowledge of Indigenous cultural safety and anti-racism.
  • Awareness of the Truth & Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action, In Plain Sight Report, and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.
  • Support for team members in their learning journeys, ensuring the implementation of Indigenous Cultural Safety strategies.
