Senior Manager, Government and Public Affairs

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Manager, Government and Public Affairs to join our team at Telesat. As a key member of our Public Policy and Government Affairs team, you will play a critical role in developing and executing our government and public affairs strategies.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive public affairs and government relations strategies to shape policy and secure revenue backlog.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with government officials, regulators, agencies, and industry associations at all levels of government to influence decisions and advocate for Telesat's objectives.
  • Foster collaboration with Canada's defence community to secure meaningful partnerships with the Department of National Defence, NORAD, and NATO.
  • Create impactful presentations for internal and external audiences, effectively communicating Telesat's initiatives and value proposition.
  • Distill complex and technical subjects into concise and understandable messages for diverse audiences, including governments and policymakers.
  • Conduct research and analysis on government policies, programs, legislation, and regulations, providing strategic guidance to senior management on their impact to Telesat.

Requirements:

  • University degree in a relevant discipline, such as commerce/business administration, political science, economics, or engineering.
  • 7-10 years of progressive experience demonstrating increased levels of responsibility.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Possess a high level of professionalism with exceptional interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, both written and oral.
  • Demonstrates a proven ability to establish and cultivate strong relationships.
  • Highly skilled in creating impactful presentations using PowerPoint to deliver a compelling message.
  • Displays a strong overall business acumen, along with proficiency in relationship building, influencing, and negotiation.
