Job Overview:
The Automotive Seating Systems Engineer will play a pivotal role in the innovation and development of seating solutions for the automotive industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop automotive seating systems and their components.
- Establish functional requirements and create system design verification plans, design failure mode and effects analysis, and functional models.
- Release specifications for component performance, including detailed drawings and validation of systems.
- Collaborate with various engineering teams, suppliers, manufacturing facilities, and procurement departments.
- Define critical system parameters and standards, integrating them into CAD design templates.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Leverage prior design and engineering experience specific to seating.
- Conduct conceptual design work for seating, performing parametric studies to meet functional design objectives.
- Develop initial packaging designs for seating systems that align with overall design goals.
- Generate preliminary designs that achieve performance targets and conduct specific performance analyses.
- Apply knowledge of manufacturing best practices and guidelines.
- Conduct competitive benchmarking studies.
- Create and maintain design and analysis templates, adapting to evolving standards.
- Utilize associative parametric modeling techniques.
- Set up automation for CAD modeling and NX design templates.
Qualifications:
- This is a hybrid role requiring occasional travel for meetings.
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an ABET accredited institution is mandatory.
- Relevant years of experience in the field.
- Preferred experience in vehicle manufacturing and assembly, particularly in Automotive Seat Engineering, Testing, and Manufacturing.
- Ability to navigate and respond to multidisciplinary engineering challenges.
- Proficient in Excel and capable of interpreting laboratory procedures.
- Excellent communication skills are essential.
