Accident Benefits Claims Specialist

Position Overview: As a key member of the Accident Benefit Claims team, you will report directly to the Team Leader and play a vital role in the assessment, investigation, and resolution of Accident Benefit claims.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with the Team Leader to investigate and evaluate accident benefit claims in compliance with the Insurance Act.
  2. Gather essential claim details through effective communication with claimants and their representatives.
  3. Evaluate coverage eligibility and interpret policy wording to resolve coverage-related inquiries.
  4. Process various claims, including income replacement, non-earner, and attendant care claims.
  5. Accurately reserve files based on thorough claim assessments.
  6. Maintain comprehensive electronic records of all claims.
  7. Facilitate payment processing by confirming benefits, eligibility, and reserves.
  8. Determine the most effective strategies for managing claims.
  9. Verify collateral benefits as part of the claims process.
  10. Respond to claimant inquiries and manage accident benefit documentation in line with relevant legislation.
  11. Review and approve treatment plans for claimant rehabilitation when appropriate.
  12. Coordinate insurer examinations to assess benefits eligibility.
  13. Prepare necessary medical documentation for insurer examinations.
  14. Address assessment recommendations as needed.
  15. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. A university degree, college diploma in a related field, or CIP designation.
  2. 2-3 years of experience in claims handling.
  3. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  4. Exhibit professionalism, friendliness, and courtesy in all interactions.
  5. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure under pressure.
  6. Demonstrated teamwork and adaptability in a dynamic setting.
  7. Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

Compensation: Salary range: $48,700 - $89,800
