About the Opportunity

The University of British Columbia is seeking a distinguished academic leader to fill a prestigious professorship in mental health research. This is an exceptional opportunity for a highly qualified individual to make a significant impact in the field of psychiatry and contribute to the advancement of mental health care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a research program focused on addressing the unique mental health needs of diverse populations, with a particular emphasis on immigrant, ethnically diverse, and refugee populations in the Fraser Health region.
  • Collaborate with clinicians and scientists to develop and lead a mental health and addictions research portfolio, leveraging expertise in early intervention, concurrent disorders, mood and anxiety disorders, and alternate and complementary therapies.
  • Provide research mentorship to Fraser Health clinicians and contribute to the teaching activities of the Department of Psychiatry, including undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate learners.
  • Participate in the affairs of the Department and the University, contributing to the development of academic and professional programs.
Requirements
  • Hold an MD with certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC) or equivalent qualifications in Psychiatry.
  • Demonstrate experience in promoting and supporting evidence-based and culturally appropriate care, incorporating alternate and complimentary therapies for patient populations in this region.
  • Have expertise in at least one of the following areas: early intervention, concurrent disorders, mood and anxiety disorders, immigrant and refugee populations, alternate and complementary therapies, or novel treatment modalities.
  • Meet the requirements for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, as outlined by the University of British Columbia.
What We Offer

The University of British Columbia offers a competitive salary range of $185,000 to $230,000 per annum, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
