Mental Health Support Worker

We are seeking a skilled Mental Health Support Worker to join our team at the Provincial Assessment Centre in Coquitlam, BC. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide essential support to clients with complex mental health and substance use challenges.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor clients' progress and provide emotional support and counseling as needed.
- Participate in the admission, case planning, and discharge process for clients, including conducting interviews and gathering relevant information.
- Establish rapport with clients and provide assistance with daily living activities, such as time management and interpersonal communication.
- Coordinate services with medical professionals and community resources, and act as an advocate for clients.
- Plan and lead groups, such as sports and exercise, social support groups, and social activities, to support clients' skill development.
- Prepare and maintain client charts, including updating information in the computerized client database.
- Diploma from a recognized Social Services Support Worker educational program, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid B.C. driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Knowledge of the principles of recovery in mental illness, community resources, and behavior management.
- Ability to establish and maintain rapport with clients, observe and recognize changes in clients, and deal effectively with conflict situations.
