Your Role

As a Senior Mechanical Designer, you'll play a key role in our design division, working closely with the Project Manager (Design) to execute projects from design to construction.

You'll be responsible for ensuring all Enersolv standards and codes are implemented, meeting and exceeding client expectations, and continuously improving project outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Mentor junior staff and provide technical guidance
  • Perform heating and cooling load calculations
  • Design HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection Systems
  • Coordinate mechanical requirements with other disciplines
  • Review and supervise drafting, prepare and review markups
  • Attend project progress meetings and provide updates
  • Prepare tender documentation, including specifications
  • Perform field reviews, site surveys, and final inspections
  • Carry out contract administration, including shop drawings reviews
  • Assist in the development of training material and design workshops
  • Participate in the constant improvement of internal processes
  • Stay up-to-date on new developments in relevant codes and innovative design
  • Assist with fee proposal preparation
  • Maintain client relations and develop business opportunities
  • Collaborate with the Construction Division during Design & Build process
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • 5+ years design experience in HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems
  • 3+ years AutoCAD experience
  • LEED Accredited Professional designation or Green Building Certification is an asset
  • Knowledge of BC Building Code, Vancouver By-Laws, ASHRAE, CSA, CCDC, ASPE, NFPA, and other applicable codes and standards
  • Professional Engineer (PEng) or Applied Science Technologist (AScT) preferred

  • Ability to prepare working drawings using AutoCAD (Revit an asset)
  • Ability to read Architectural, Structural, Electrical drawings with minimal supervision
  • Ability to apply prescriptive requirements of plumbing, building, and fire protection codes
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at once
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in supervising/mentoring others
  • Ability to work with clients, contractors, consulting engineers, and suppliers in a professional manner
