Your Role at Enersolv
Reporting to the Project Manager (Design), you will play a vital role within our design division. As a Senior Mechanical Designer, your responsibilities encompass the execution of projects from initial design through to construction. You will ensure that all Enersolv standards and codes are implemented, consistently exceeding client expectations while contributing to project profitability.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical guidance and coordinate activities for junior staff assigned to projects.
- Conduct heating and cooling load calculations.
- Design HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection Systems.
- Coordinate mechanical requirements with other disciplines involved in the project design team.
- Collaborate with utility and municipal agencies to ensure seamless service connections.
- Review and supervise drafting processes, prepare and review markups.
- Attend project progress meetings and provide updates to the assigned Project Manager.
- Prepare tender documentation, including comprehensive specifications.
- Conduct field reviews, site surveys, and final inspections.
- Manage contract administration, including shop drawing reviews.
- Contribute to the development of training materials, design workshops, presentations, and educational resources for junior staff.
- Actively participate in improving internal processes related to Design and Design & Build projects.
- Stay abreast of new developments in relevant codes and innovative design practices.
- Assist with fee proposal preparation.
- Cultivate strong client relationships and explore business opportunities with new clients.
- Collaborate effectively with the Construction Division during Design & Build projects.
Skills and Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of design experience in HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems.
- 3+ years of AutoCAD experience. LEED Accredited Professional designation or Green Building Certification is an asset.
- In-depth knowledge of the BC Building Code, Vancouver By-Laws, ASHRAE, CSA, CCDC, ASPE, NFPA, and other applicable codes and standards.
- Professional Engineer (PEng) or Applied Science Technologist (AScT) preferred.
