The Operations Leader plays a crucial role in guiding and inspiring the operations team to achieve excellence in critical areas such as safety, quality, efficiency, cleanliness, waste minimization, resource utilization, human resource goals, and ongoing enhancement.
The ideal candidate will provide strategic direction for daily operations, formulate plans for future employee development, asset management, and operational growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Proactively manage and direct the manufacturing operations to meet departmental goals regarding safety, quality, efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and personnel management.
- Ensure adherence to plant safety protocols and effectively communicate safety concerns to all team members.
- Establish and maintain operational standards and procedures across the designated area of responsibility.
- Oversee the maintenance of assets to ensure they meet required standards, equipped with the necessary tools, materials, and supplies.
- Coordinate daily maintenance and operational resources, including during scheduled preventative maintenance periods.
- Develop and implement initiatives that align with the department's and site's long-term vision.
- Foster an environment that promotes employee engagement and continuous improvement of processes and systems.
- Lead teams, including maintenance and suppliers, in evaluating and recommending enhancements to both products and processes.
- Ensure that housekeeping and overall departmental appearance align with or surpass company standards.
- Mentor and develop process technicians, process engineers, and operations team members.
- Guide teams through troubleshooting processes to achieve stability and improvement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (preferred)
- 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing setting, preferably in Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG).
- Strong technical skills with proven problem-solving capabilities.
- Exceptional coaching and mentoring abilities, with experience in leading operational change.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail and a high degree of self-motivation.
- Proficient in systems and computer applications.
- Experience with high-speed paper machinery is advantageous.
- Prior leadership experience is essential.
