About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our team in the Inpatient Psychiatry Unit at Fraser Health. As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to patients with mental health issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' functional abilities and develop individualized treatment plans to promote independence and safety.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to develop and implement care plans that address patients' physical, emotional, and social needs.
  • Provide occupational therapy interventions, including cognitive, behavioral, and psycho-educational strategies, to help patients achieve their goals.
  • Facilitate group therapy sessions and provide education to patients and their families on coping skills, stress management, and other relevant topics.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with patients, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of policies and procedures that promote best practices in occupational therapy.
Requirements
  • Baccalaureate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Current full registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia (COTBC) and eligibility for membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists - BC (CAOT-BC).
  • At least one year of recent experience in a psychiatric setting or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Strong knowledge of psychosocial aspects of mental health issues, behavioral management strategies, and relevant legislation and policies.
