Position Summary: Asphalt Labourers play a crucial role in the safe and effective execution of highway and other paving activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Rake and redistribute asphalt mix as it exits the screed to prepare surfaces for rolling;
- Efficiently spread asphalt while maintaining a steady workflow;
- Shovel excess asphalt and clear debris from the work area;
- Utilize a range of hand and power tools, as well as some machinery;
- Engage in various tasks that require significant physical effort;
- Remain vigilant of surroundings at all times;
- Keep the job site tidy by collecting tools and equipment to mitigate potential hazards;
- Ensure a safe working environment in accordance with all safety regulations, utilizing the correct tools and equipment for each task;
- Prioritize the safety of fellow workers;
- Carry out additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of experience in a construction setting is advantageous;
- Possession of a valid driver's license in good standing;
- Willingness to collaborate in a team environment, with the potential for extended hours;
- Capability to operate necessary equipment safely and responsibly;
- Effective communication skills with colleagues and supervisors to ensure proper project completion;
- Commitment to safety is a fundamental condition of employment.
