Operating Room Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Practical Nurse to join our team in the Operating Room at Sinai Health. As a key member of our perioperative team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest level of patient care and safety during surgical procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Perform the duties of the scrub nurse, including preparing and maintaining the operating room environment, handling surgical instruments, and assisting with patient care.
- Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to ensure seamless patient care and efficient surgical procedures.
- Contribute to the patient assessment process and implement patients' plans of care, including performing and/or providing assistance for a defined range of strategies and surgical interventions.
- Act as a patient advocate and contribute to the smooth functioning and efficiency of the unit.
- Participate in professional development and continuing education, and engage in self-reflection to facilitate personal and professional growth.
- Current RPN certificate of registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
- Minimum 1-2 years' experience in the Perioperative setting.
- A diploma or equivalent from a CNO-approved practical nursing program.
- Successful completion of RPN Operating Room program.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
- Experience using an electronic health records system.
- Excellent health and clinical assessment skills.
- Demonstrated ability in providing quality patient-focused care and addressing the fundamental care needs of patients and their families.
- Proven ability to make sound professional judgments and practice decisions, and demonstrate effective time-management and organizational skills in a fast-paced work environment.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent oral, written, and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in English.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively with others, including patients and their families.
- Computer proficiency and/or Basic to Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (e.g. Word, Outlook).
- Demonstrated satisfactory job performance and attendance history.
