Position OverviewUnder the general supervision of the Charge or designate, the Clinical Laboratory Technologist is tasked with conducting clinical analyses and reporting on patient samples in accordance with established protocols. This role also involves participation in various laboratory projects such as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), chemical inventories, and more. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining a safe working environment that adheres to professional and provincial guidelines, ensuring compliance with quality assurance programs and maintaining standards set forth by Accreditation. All functions are performed in alignment with the Mission and Values of Shared Health Diagnostic Services, as well as current policies, procedures, and applicable legislation.
Experience- Previous relevant experience is preferred.
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology program.
- Successful completion of the CMLTM Prior Learning Assessment process for a discipline specialty, as deemed by the Employer may also be considered.
- Current registration or eligibility for registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Manitoba (CMLTM) is required.
- Current membership with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) is considered an asset.
- Effective communication skills in English, both written and oral, are essential.
- Experience in a Windows computer environment is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs is preferred.
- Mental and physical health necessary to meet the demands of the role is required.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions with precision and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Strong analytical skills are essential.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Maintains confidentiality with all information entrusted to the position.
- Fluency in both written and oral French may be required.
- Ability to perform duties as described.
- Availability to work shifts, weekends, and holidays may be necessary.
- Participation in standby and callback duty may be required.
- Rotation through various workstations as needed.
- Exposure to all hazards and dangers inherent in laboratory work.
