Job Title: Strategic Account Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Strategic Account Manager to join our Agricultural Solutions team in Saskatoon, SK.

About the Role:

The Strategic Account Manager will be responsible for driving accelerated growth of BASF's agricultural product portfolio to designated distribution management, maintaining and building good business/trade relationships with designated distributors and linked accounts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a value-based Account Plan for each customer based on their unique needs, interests, and business goals and objectives to maximize sales opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain good business/trade relationships with designated distributors and linked accounts.
  • Communicate and promote BASF marketing, sales, and technical programs to designated accounts and key personnel to drive business and achieve sales goals.
  • Initiate and coordinate strategic planning sessions with designated accounts that ensure business/action plans are developed, implemented, and updated on a regional basis.
  • Take an active role in assisting the National Account Manager with Linked Account Call Preparations, Call Plans, and issues resolution.
  • Communicate business issues and possible alternatives to BASF management and work with the appropriate BASF areas to implement solutions.
  • Support, cooperate, and closely coordinate actions and plans with sales/marketing teams to ensure objectives align with accounts and are achieved.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Science, preferably Agriculture, Business, or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in field sales, management, marketing, business development. Other business-related experience will be considered.
  • Strong understanding of the manufacturer/distributor business relationship.
  • Proven track record of success selling to distributors.
  • Demonstrated success in budget management in a sales environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to develop strong, successful business relationships with customers as well as internal teammates.
  • Ability to self-manage time and resources and to allocate time and energy appropriately, resulting in achievement of goals.
  • Excellent computer skills, with proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to travel overnight/weekly. Minimum 30-40% overnight travel, dependent on season.
