Job Summary

Cartage Xpress is seeking a skilled and experienced Truck Driver to join our team. As a key member of our transportation department, you will be responsible for safely operating and maintaining our fleet of vehicles, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of goods to our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Vehicle Operations
    • Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials
    • Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle
    • Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment
  • Logistics and Administration
    • Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption
    • Receive and relay information to central dispatch
    • Accurately complete and maintain driver logbook and other required documentation
  • Customer Service
    • Provide excellent customer service and ensure timely delivery of goods
    • Communicate effectively with customers and internal stakeholders
  • Maintenance and Repair
    • Perform brake adjustments and other routine maintenance tasks
    • Identify and report any vehicle defects or issues
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
    • Valid AZ class license and Air Brake (Z) Endorsement
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
    • Ability to lift up to 45 kg (100 lbs)
  • Security and Safety
    • Criminal record check
    • Driver's validity licence check
    • Driving record check (abstract)
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent travel and varying weather conditions. A valid driver's licence and a clean driving record are essential for this role.
