About the Role

VIA Rail Canada Inc. is seeking skilled Railway Car Technicians to join our team at the Vancouver Maintenance Center. As a Railway Car Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring our passenger cars operate at peak capacity year-round.

Key Responsibilities
  • Servicing our national fleet in terms of regular maintenance and heavy repairs
  • Maintaining the interior and exterior of our train cars, including seats, toilets, tables, sinks, blinds, panels, piping, windows, brake rigging, and more
  • Training on major components such as wheelsets, couplers, springs, and other specialized equipment
What We Offer
  • Permanent position with 40 hours per week guaranteed
  • Varied schedule with day, evening, night, weekend, and holiday shifts
  • Overtime available
  • Competitive hourly salary: $35.22/H - Based on experience
  • Evening shift differential: $1.50/H
  • Night shift differential: $2.00/H
  • Red Seal differential: $1.00/H
  • Full benefits: dental, medical, pension plan, ride pass, 5 personal days + vacations
  • Uniforms, all tools, PPE provided (boots, glasses, helmet, vest, gloves), free parking, shower/personal change room provided, indoor lunch room
Requirements
  • Experience as a millwright, carpenter, plumber, welder, fabricator, or automotive technician
  • Red seal certified tradespersons ideal, but apprentices welcome to apply
  • Journeyman status and experience in machinery maintenance a plus
