About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Railway Car Technician to join our team at the VIA Rail Maintenance Center in Vancouver. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring our passenger cars operate at peak capacity year-round.

Key Responsibilities

  • Servicing our national fleet in terms of regular maintenance and heavy repairs
  • Maintaining the interior and exterior of our train cars, including seats, toilets, tables, sinks, blinds, panels, piping, windows, and brake rigging
  • Training to tackle major components such as wheelsets, couplers, springs, and more

  • A permanent position with a guaranteed 40-hour workweek
  • A competitive hourly salary range of $35.22-$42.49, plus shift differentials and Red Seal differential

Requirements

  • Experience in skilled trades, such as millwright, carpenter, plumber, welder, fabricator, or automotive technician
  • Red Seal certification or journeyman status preferred, but apprentices welcome to apply
  • Experience in machinery maintenance and assembling, mounting, or finishing transportation equipment
