The Regional Municipality of York is seeking a highly skilled Process Optimization Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Process Optimization & Analytics team, you will be responsible for conducting on-site investigations and providing recommendations to optimize advanced and conventional water or wastewater treatment processes.
Key Responsibilities- Process Optimization: Conduct on-site investigations and provide recommendations to optimize advanced and conventional water or wastewater treatment processes, including numerical and computerized modeling.
- Troubleshooting and Monitoring: Review benchmarking data and track plant and system operational parameters to troubleshoot and monitor treatment systems performance.
- Research and Development: Conduct research in partnership with academic and research agencies to develop new advanced water or wastewater treatment methodologies.
- Training and Development: Provide on-site and classroom training on new advanced treatment methodologies and technologies to internal stakeholders.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure quality assurance activities to monitor program effectiveness and support continuous improvement efforts within the Branch.
- Asset Management: Monitor and ensure appropriate use of asset management standards for infrastructure.
- Project Management: Oversee engineering and asset management consultants and manage feasibility/functional studies and projects for water and wastewater infrastructure.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with and develop relationships with Operators, internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, to facilitate the delivery of services and resolve environmental issues.
- Education: Successful completion of a University Degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering.
- Professional Registration: Must be registered as a Professional Engineer with Professional Engineers Ontario.
- Legislative Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Technical Knowledge: Knowledge of municipal water, wastewater treatment, collection, and distribution system management and operations techniques, as well as complex hydraulic systems including pumping, piping, valving, etc.
- Business Acumen: Understanding of budgeting process, strategic planning, program development, and implementation techniques.
