Job Summary
The Government of Alberta is seeking a highly skilled Construction Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our infrastructure development team, you will play a lead role in the coordination, review, and administration of engineering consultants to complete design, tendering, and construction of highway projects throughout the province.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and review engineering consultants to ensure projects are delivered in accordance with national codes, Department guidelines, current standards, policies, and technical and functional requirements.
- Provide assistance in the planning and programming of Department projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Administer Consultant Engineering Agreements and provide expertise to assist with the management of construction projects within a safe work environment.
- Monitor consultants and contractors through regular inspections of construction projects to ensure compliance with safety and quality specifications.
- Participate in the preliminary and planning processes, and recommend solutions to problems concerning major changes in construction procedures.
Requirements
- Broad knowledge of highway engineering, including design standards, construction administration, and practices.
- Thorough understanding of the right of way acquisition process, utility coordination, regulations applied by the transportation industry, environment regulators, and Departmental policies and guidelines.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate complex technical information to stakeholders.
