Job Summary:The successful candidate will be responsible for cutting and preparing meats for sale, as well as maintaining a clean and organized work environment. This is a permanent position with a 40-hour workweek.
Key Responsibilities:- Cut and prepare meats for sale, including cutting carcasses, sides, and quarters
- Prepare special cuts of meat ordered by customers
- Cut, trim, and prepare standard cuts of meat
- Wrap and package prepared meats
- Remove bones from meat
- Weigh meats for sale
- Cut poultry into parts
- Price meat products
- Clean and prepare fish and shellfish
- Sell meats to customers
- Cut fish into steaks and fillets
- Grind meats
- Make special sausages
- Slice cooked meats
- Prepare special displays of meats, poultry, and fish products
- Shape, lace, and tie roasts, other meats, poultry, and seafood
- Meat Cutter Trade Certification
- Certification with provincial or territorial authorities
The work environment is cold/refrigerated, and the work setting is a butcher shop, supermarket and meat department, fish store, and supermarket/grocery store.
